Solutions for bringing employees back to work safely
As companies contemplate the best strategies to bring employees back to the office, whether it’s going back to the workplace full-time or using a hybrid model of splitting their time working remotely and in the office, there will no doubt be changes in the way offices are designed to ensure the continued safety of employees. Companies need to implement health and safety measures to reassure employees that the office is a safe environment to work from. From monitoring the air quality to controlling the number of people in high traffic areas and maintaining socially-distanced work spaces, companies can mitigate the risk of exposing returning employees to potentially unhealthy environments while creating a comfortable and sustainable workspace for everyone.
Andorix’s Return-to-Office Smart Workplace Solutions provides a suite of technology solutions that help companies implement sustainable measures to enhance the health and safety of employees when they return to the office, all while modernizing building systems and improving efficiency.
Our solution integrates sensors and building systems to monitor the workspace air quality, enable real-time people counting and provide alerts and utilization reports to building management. This results in ensuring employee health and safety, improved employee comfort, optimize space utilization, better resource allocation and utimately lower energy and insurance costs.

The key to a safe return to the office is to implement strategies that puts the overall health and safety of employees as the top priority. A front line defense for the workplace is the on-site screening at all entry points to the facility. Andorix can provide thermal imaging cameras that will capture and record the temperature of individuals entering the built environment. There is the option of enabling facial recognition when consent is given by building tenants and company employees.
While inside the facility, air quality monitoring is one key to providing a safer workplace for employees. Andorix provides sensors to monitor the indoor air quality witihin individual rooms and spaces. These sensors continuously measure room temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide (CO2) and carbon monoxide (CO) concentration and total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) and provides actionable insights for building managers to ensure that the area remains comfortable and safe. The data collected from the indoor air quality monitors also helps towards getting WELL Certification for the buildings.
Maintaining a healthy work environment for everyone requires the need to put policies in place that restrict the number of people within a confined space, whether this is in a building lobby or common area, an elevator, a boardroom or a bathroom. Discreetly installed people counting sensors will continuously scan an area and provide real-time occupancy counts to a mounted screen or mobile app. This information can also be used in conjunction with green/red LED lights to inform people whether they can enter the area.
Real-time occupancy information from IoT sensors placed on desks, meeting rooms and common areas will quickly identify which resource is under or over utilized. Know when a meeting room is vacant, or how often workspaces are used in a ‘hot-desk’ environment. Cleaning staff are also provided visibility into actual usage of meeting rooms or bathroom stalls so they can sanitize areas based on usage instead of pre-determined time slots throughout the day. Integrating presence detection information with HVAC and lighting systems will reduce energy consumption and improve employee workplace experience.
